A brief welcome and disclaimer. Please read this before reading anything else on this site / blog.
As the name suggests, this blog is dedicated to playing the devils advocate. To proffer a different view on some cases that have captured the publics attention or other cases that may be of interest to others - legally speaking. It is to be expected that some of the views in respect of some cases may be controversial or may create some controversy - but it must be borne in mind that these views are not "facts" - they merely provide a different view or opposing view in respect of the same case - for the sake of argument so to speak.
Playing the devils advocate has been defined as a "person who advocates an unpopular cause or view for the sake of an argument". Which is exactly what this blog is all about.
In order to play the devils advocate properly it would be advisable to be an advocate. As it turns out I am an Advocate of the High Court (South Africa) - practicing in the Superior Courts.
That said, feel free to read and comment on articles - commenting plays a key roll as the views espoused are done so for the sake of argument.
Keeping in mind that bigot or racist comments will not be tolerated, likewise comments that seek to threaten or attack the author simply because you disagree with the views expressed in articles will not be tolerated (unless of course the "attack" is seeking to further investigate views expressed and add to the conversation and assist in the legal matrix of any given matter, I will decide if such a case has been made out).
If you notice any typos or errors in syntax and grammar - please let me know - keeping in mind that there is a difference between letting me know and being the English police....dont be the English police - its lame, boring and uncool. Be cool.
Enjoy.
